#Top100 Songs Part Four: 70-61

Absolutely loving all the responses to my Top 100 choices; from the comments I’ve been getting, it seems that there’s loads of people out there on teh interwebz who, quite frankly, have awesome taste in music too! If you’re on Twitter, by the way, you can follow the conversation at the hashtag #Top100. Here’s tonight’s ten tracks, and if you want to catch up with my previous selections, you can find them all here, here and here.

70) TORI AMOS – Silent All These Years:

A gorgeous song from a gorgeous, inspiring woman with a stunning voice.

69) DEATH IN VEGAS – Rocco (Dave Clarke Remix):

A classic remix of a great song from DiV’s underrated debut album, Dead Elvis.

68) ELECTRONIC – Getting Away With It:

Bernard Sumner. Johnny Marr. Neil Tennant. I mean, what more could you want? Classic, classy electro-pop.

67) SIOUXIE AND THE BANSHEES – Spellbound:

Punk’s greatest goddess with an exciting, exhilarating rush of a tune.

66) PJ HARVEY – Sheela-Na-Gig:

One of my teenage heroines – this is Polly Jean at her rawest and most uncompromising. Love it.

65) ERIC B AND RAKIM – Paid In Full (Coldcut Remix):

A stone cold, bona fide hip hop classic. This Coldcut remix just takes the original to another level.

64) CURTIS MAYFIELD – Move On Up:

If this don’t make you grin like a loon, you’re probably dead. Uncompromising, ridiculously musically tight and as funky as fuck.

63) ELECTRIBE 101 feat. BILLIE RAY MARTIN – Talking With Myself:

A lost Balearic classic from the late 80’s, with a stunning vocal from the ultimate house diva herself, Billie Ray Martin.

62) CROSBY, STILLS, NASH AND YOUNG – Ohio:

Written in response to the Kent State University massacre of 1970, this is one of the greatest protest songs of that era.

61) THE SOURCE feat. CANDI STATON – You Got The Love:

Released countless times in the UK, this all-time classic house tune has charted on every occasion. And it’s obvious why…

Watch out for tracks 60-51 coming soon!
