#Top100 Songs Part Five: 60-51

We’re half way through the Top 100 countdown – here’s tonight’s selection of tracks. Don’t forget, if you’ve got anything to say about my choices, please feel free to let me know! For the rest of the rundown from 100 to 61, see here.

60) VERUCA SALT – Seether:

Grunge meets pop meets riot grrrl – and not the unholy mess of a noise that this suggests!

59) TOOTS & THE MAYTALS – 54 46 (Was My Number):

Proper reggae classic – and another soundsystem playlist tune…

58) KIRSTY MACCOLL – A New England:

The definitive version of this Billy Bragg classic; Kirsty turns this song into something pure and perfect.

57) ORIGIN UNKNOWN – Valley of the Shadows:

Also known as 31 Seconds, this is one of the greatest drum ‘n’ bass tunes ever.

56) ENERGY 52 – Cafe del Mar (Three N One Mix):

Mid-90’s trance at its finest, this tune makes me rush even when I’m stone cold sober…

55) SEPULTURA – The Hunt:

Not the most obvious of choices for this band, but this is a great cover of a great song (originally by New Model Army).

Underrated Midlands geniuses. This is a cracking tune.

53) FUGAZI – Waiting Room:

Needs no explanation or justification!

52) dEUS – Roses:

Easily the best thing to come out of Belgium since chocolate…

Another one that needs no explanation – this just kicks ass.

Getting closer to the top ten… 50-41 coming soon!
